Will Home Server Work with Virtualization?

Posted on Saturday 17 February 2007 by Dave

I am going to run out later today and get a dedicated box for the Beta but I think I will run a test on VMware to see if I can use a virtual home server. Since it uses underlying Windows 2003 systems I am thinking it should be ok, but I will find out soon enough. This will also allow me to easily get screen shots of the install procedure.

    Hii,

forget the VMWare installation. The OS can’t find a hard drive to write on. I’ve tried to extract the hdd drivers from the windows.iso archive in VMWare’s program directory but it also failed. Virtual PC can’t boot ISOs … No I’ve installes it on a HP DX6100 Hardware.

    Christoph-
I did get it to install fairly easily. I was using the beta of VMware Workstation for Vista. I will be posting about it in a second.
